GLOSS Guidelines
1. All submissions should be sent to submissions@glosszine.org.
GLOSS does not currently accept submissions via regular mail.
2. Text submissions should be sent in the body of an email, with the title of
the piece as the subject of the email. GLOSS seeks all forms of writing, so long
as it makes interesting reading. This includes, but is not limited to: fiction,
poetry, non-fiction, criticism, research articles, memoirs, and diatribes.
3. GLOSS is published in English, but we welcome translations from other
languages, so long as we are able to publish the original text alongside the
translation.
4. Text submissions that need special formatting should be sent as attachments,
preferably in Word format(.doc) or Rich Text
Format(.rtf), to submissions@glosszine.org.
5. Art submissions should be sent in the form of a graphic attachment (.gif or
.jpg)
to submissions@glosszine.org.
GLOSS seeks visual art in the form of paintings, drawings, photography,
computer-generated graphics, cartoons, and collage. As with text submissions,
the title of the piece should be made the subject line of the email. Artists are
encouraged to include an artist's statement along with their submission.
6. Multiple submissions should be sent separately, with the title of each piece
as the subject line of the email.
7. Your full name, address, and phone number should be placed at the top of the
body of the email, followed by your submission.
8. There is currently no limit on length or style, but longer pieces may be
segmented for publication.
9. If the piece that you are submitting has been previously published, please
let GLOSS know so that we may obtain permission to reprint from the original
publishers.
10. GLOSS accepts simultaneous submissions. However, please let us know in the
event that your submission is accepted elsewhere so that we may remove it from
consideration at GLOSS.
11. If you are unsure if a piece that you would like to submit is suitable for
GLOSS, please query us at editor@glosszine.org
and we would be more than happy to answer any questions.
12. GLOSS does not pay contributors. What we offer is assiduous editing and
passionate dissemination via the internet in a high-quality zine. Pieces
published in GLOSS have a permanent home at GLOSS, although authors retain all
rights to their work. GLOSS seeks only the right to publish accepted pieces on
the GLOSS web-site, with permission to publish selected pieces in print in
future anthologies.
13. If you're thinking of submitting something, please let us know that it is
coming, even if it is not finished yet.
